We made it!
Just want to touch in briefly. We woke up in Minneapolis at 2:45 this morning to catch our 3:15 shuttle to the airport. After landing in Guatemala City sometime around noon, we met our Habitat leaders, Sandra and Diego, with whom we will be spending the week. From there, we had a 1 hour bus ride to Antigua - just a magical place.
We were all pretty tired and hungry, so we dumped our luggage at the hotel in Antigua and walked to TaCorazon for some amazing burritos. (see photos below)
Next: power naps
Now: I wish you could hear the sounds that accompany the photos. Lots of giggling, card playing, ball throwing.
I'm sitting on the patio in our courtyard. We are heading out for dessert in about 30 minutes, and will return for our evening reflection and early bed.
Surreal. Exciting. Tiring.
I just asked for some quick words from the students to describe the day. Couldn't have said it better myself.
We are safe. We are well. The adventure has begun.
Thanks to all for your prayers and support. This group is beyond amazing.
